1. What is Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group?
Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group is a service which allows you to check your e-mail, and a lot of other functions from anywhere on a wide variety of devices. We currently support the following browsers and devices,

- All NTTDoCoMo devices in Japan, point your browser to http://www.gopherking.com/
2. What is SSL and why is Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group using it?
Short for Secure Sockets Layer, it is a protocol developed by Netscape for transmitting private documents via the Internet. SSL works by using a public key to encrypt data that's transferred over the SSL connection. Both Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer support SSL, and many Web sites use the protocol to obtain confidential user information, such as credit card numbers. By convention, Web pages that require an SSL connection start with https instead of http.
Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group uses SSL (Security Socket Layer) to transmit data whenever possible, this includes the following browsers and devices,
- Palm clipping on Palm VII
- Eudora Web for Palm browser
- Web TV
- Internet Explorer
- Netscape
- Opera
- Pocket PC
- Microsoft Mobile Explorer on Cell Phones
Note: Avantgo already has its own SSL encryption (certicom) built-in, so Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group does not provide the extra encryption.
3. What Email systems/protocols are supported?
As the current version 1.91, POP, IMAP, SPOP, SIMAP, MSN, Yahoo, AOL and HOTMAIL protocols are supported. These cover most of the ISP/company Email systems. Although we don't currently support other Web based Emails, they will be added in our next release. Please check this page often for updates.

4. When I try to add a new account to my profile, why does it say "unable to log into account"?
As part of the sign up process, we verify the server, username and password information when you add a new e-mail account. This could be caused by
- Wrong username or password
- Wrong server name or protocol
- Server is down
Please check your settings and try again later.
5. I have eight Email accounts under my profile, why does it take more than 30 seconds to check all my Emails?
Although we allow up to 12 Email accounts under your profile, the more accounts you have, the longer it takes to check all of them. So It's a good idea to keep the number below five.
6. One of my Email accounts is showing "Connection failed" when I tried to check for messages, why is that?
99% of the time this is caused by a down server, please try again later.
7. Spam?
No Spam Policy is strictly enforced! Spam is strictly prohibited on the Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group service. Any user who sends out Spam Emails through Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group will have his account terminated immediately and will be liable for the cost of damage caused by the Spam. To report Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group users who send out Spam, send us an Email at abuse@gopherking.com.
8. I like this system, I would like to offer this service through my company as well.
No problem, drop us a line at service@gopherking.com, and we will respond quickly.
9. Do you guys do custom programming on wireless devices?
Absolutely, we code on all above wireless platforms, contact us at service@gopherking.com.
10. What if I have a question that is not covered here?
Send us an Email at service@gopherking.com.
11. I am looking at the folder view, what are these symbols?
Checkbox - you can select multiple messages using checkboxes in front of their subjects and delete them all by clicking on the Delete button
N - New message
A - Answered (this only works with IMAP servers)
@ - Message has attachment
12. How do I check my Yahoo Email using your service?
New! As of March 27, 2003, the free Yahoo Web mail is also supported by Gopher King!!!
If you are a paid Yahoo premium user,
a. Go to mail.yahoo.com and log in using your username and password.
b. Once you are logged in, click on Options link on the left.
c. Select "Yahoo! Delivers" under Delivery Services.
d. Select "Yes" under Signup and select "Only send me offers for categories I select below". Select "Once a week" and "Text-only" near the bottom, then click on "Finished" to go back to Options page.
e. Click on "POP Access & Forwarding" under Mail Management.
f. Under Step 1, choose "Web and POP Access" and under Step 2, choose "Text-only". Click OK to go back. WAIT 24 hours for Yahoo to activate the service.
g. Logon to Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group service and click on Add Email Account link.
h. Use the following settings,
Email Address: Subscriber_ID @yahoo.com
Server Name:pop.mail.yahoo.com
Server Type:POP
User Name: Your Yahoo user name (without the @yahoo.com portion)
Password: Your Yahoo password
i. Now click on Submit and you are all set
13. I just read a message, and now the INBOX still shows it to be "N" (new)?
This is a common behavior if your server protocol is POP. Many of the POP servers do not support the "Message Read" properly. Unfortunately there is no fix at this point. (Unless you replace your Email server with IMAP)
14. How do I read my ATTBI (formerly ATT @home) Email through Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group?
Updated 12/06/2001

All done.
15. Can I undelete the messages that I just deleted?
NO. The delete action is permanent and can't be reversed.
16. How do I read my MSN Email through Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group?
MSN mail is very special. There are two types of MSN mail and the settings are totally different. If you are not sure, call MSN and ask for it.
a. If your MSN account is "hotmail like", i.e., you access your MSN account through the web interface on Hotmail's web site, you should use this setting: (this applies to all recent subscribers of MSN)
Enter your MSN address (e.g., john_doe@msn.com) as BOTH the Email Address AND User Name above, leave the Mail Server entry empty, select "MSN WEBMAIL" under protocol and enter your MSN password under Password.
b. If your MSN account is "POP like", i.e., you access your MSN account through the POP server (not the MSN Web Mail interface), you should use this setting: (this applies to most old subscribers of MSN)
Email Address: Subscriber_ID @msn.com
Server Name:pop3.email.msn.com
Server Type:POP
User Name: Your MSN user name (without the @msn.com portion)
Password: Your MSN password
If you are using the MSN Web-based email, and can't see any message in your inbox, check question 35 for details.
Note: The MSN Web Mail interface is very slow and unreliable, you should always switch to POP whenver you can, see this page for details
http://supportservices.msn.com/us/content/qanda/_email_rollback.htm
17. I just posted a message into a newsgroup, but it's not showing up!!!
Although we update our newsgroup server list daily, some of them may go down or refuse posting at any time. So select a different server and try again.
18. How do I read my WebTV Email through Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group?
Two Major Steps
A. Enabling WebTV POP-3 Access
You MUST have an upgraded WebTV to do this (which happened in Spring/Summer 2000), if your WebTV is newer than that, you are fine. If not, call WebTV and ask for the upgrade. (If you've received the Spring/Summer 2000 Upgrade, there is a "hidden" feature that you might find very useful. Until this upgrade, WebTV users were unable to retrieve their WebTV mail remotely from another WebTV, from one username to another, from a Web-based email account, or from a computer.) Now each WebTV username Email account can be set to allow remote mail retrieval.
Here's how to set it up:
a. In the username you wish to retrieve email from, press Mail, click on Settings, then on Remote Mail
b. Click on Remote WebTV Mail, which should appear if you've received the upgrade
c. Read the next page, then click Continue
d. Enter a password (minimum 7-characters, maxiumum 18 characters) in the boxes. Then click on the box at bottom to enter a checkmark for Allow Remote Access and click Done
e. The final screen will show the username and POP-3 server name to enter [from another WebTV, another username, a Web-based email account, or from a computer] for retrieval:
Username
pop.webtv.net
Write these down on a piece of paper
Note: This procedure must be set up for each individual username to which you would like to have access
B. Setup Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group to 'Fetch' WebTV Email
a. Logon to Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group service and click on Add Email Account link.
b. Use the following settings,
Email Address: The_user_name_you_wrote_down_in_step_3_above @webtv.net
Server Name:pop.webtv.net
Server Type:POP
User Name: The user name you wrote down in step e above
Password: The password you entered in step d above
c. Now click on Submit and you are all set
19. How do I read NetZero Email through Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group?
a. Logon to Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group service and click on Add Email Account link.
b. Use the following settings,
Email Address: Subscriber_ID @netzero.com
Server Name:pop.netzero.net
Server Type:POP
User Name: Your NetZero user name (without the @netzero.com portion)
Password: Your NetZero password
c. Now click on Submit and you are all set
22. I have a Palm organizer, how do I use the Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group PRC?
If you have a Palm VII, you just need to install the PQA (using the Palm Desktop and perform a hot sync) and that's it.
For other types of Palms (m100, m105, V, III, IIIc, etc.) check out the Palm Mobile Internet Kit http://www.palm.com/software/mik/
Once you have the kit installed and the connection going, install the PRC and you are done.
23. I have a HandSpring Visor, how do I use the Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group PRC?
Check out this page and get your favorite wireless service and modem, http://www.handspring.com/products/sbmodules/CommunicationsAndWireless.jhtml
If your wireless service supports PQA (also known as Web Clipping), install the PQA and you are ready to go.
If your wireless service does not support PQA, download a web browser (like handspring blazer $19.95 http://www.handspring.com/software/hs_software.jhtml) and go to http://www.gopherking.com/
If you do not have a wireless service, sign up with Avantgo http://www.avantgo.com and create a custom channel pointing to http://www.gopherking.com/
For details, see http://www.gopherking.com/gkmanual/index.html
24. My inbox in Yahoo Mail shows only 9 mails. Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group shows that I have 49 mails in my inbox. It appears that some of my email that have already been filed to some folders also show up as mails in the inbox. How to fix this ?
It's impossible to use subfolders with the POP protocol (Yahoo is POP), so everything shows up under INBOX. This is a limitation of the protocol. The only solution is to find a server with IMAP protocol, which supports subfolders.
25. I've added your channel to my Pocket PC (Casio EM500) - Added the name /password / ticked the box and submitted - but didn't get the message about the details being sent on next sync. What happens now?
The only thing that worked - a soft reset on the Pocket PC! - Contribution from Paul
26. I accidentally added one of my e-mail accounts two times to the Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group program. I would like to delete one of them. Please let me know what I need to do?
You have to be directly connected to do this. If you are using Avantgo to sync with your handheld, find a desktop computer.
a. Browse to http://www.gopherking.com/
b. Login with your username and password, all your email accounts are listed.
c. Under the account you want to delete, click on the "Delete" link and then click on "Yes" on the next page to confirm.
27. I logged into Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group, BUT my hotmail account isn't showing any folders, what's up with that?
Don't panic. The WebDAV server (the ones we connect to) are up and down all the time, so the only thing you can do is "Refresh", and it should come back most of the time.
28. I downloaded Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group to my Visor Prism, and the icon appears on the Visor's screen but nothing happens when I touch it. The program does not open. And I can't get the icon to delete (I've followed the typical method for deleting applications from the Palm, including deleting the program from the backup folder on the PC -- all to no avail). Any suggestions for either how to get the program to work or, alternatively, how to delete the icon?
You don't need the Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group application for it to work on your Visor, check our setup page for details. Here is one sure way to delete the program from your Visor.
a. Like you did, back up all your data, make sure you get them all before going to the next step.
b. Delete the Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group PQA from the backup directory.
c. Hard reset the visor, see instructions at http://www.handspring.com/support/ts_hard_reset_batt.jhtml
d. Do a hot sync and restore all data and other applications
e. Done.
29. I also have a question as to what the program can do? What I am looking for is a mail program for the Palm OS that will allow multiple folders at the same level of Inbox and/or subfolders under Inbox. Will Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group enable multiple folders at the same level of Inbox and/or subfolders under Inbox? Can it synchronize mail by doing a HotSync, or is it only for directly accessing email accounts using POP? If Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group won't do these things, do you know of any other product that does?
The Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group program allows you to have real time access to pop/imap/hotmail mailboxes. It will not be able to access multiple folders or subfolders under the POP protocol. This is not a limit of the program, but a limit of the protocol itself. The RFC 1939 doesn't mention anything about multiple folder access under POP. I don't think there is any software that will allow you to do that. If you want multiple folder/subfolder access, you have to use IMAP protocol, which Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group does support. See above FAQ 23 for details on how to set it up with a wireless service, or without through Avantgo.
30. My company's E-mail server is a Microsoft Exchange server, is there any special settings I need to use?
You might. Depending on how the Exchange server was set up. You should consult your system administrator for details.
Option 1
Most of the Exchange servers require to log onto both the domain and the mail service. So you have to enter your username in the following format,
domain\userid_on_domain\email_alias
userid_on_domain is the username you type each time you logon to your domain (not your Email)
email_alias is the front portion of your Email address before the "@"
For example, if your domain name is mycompany, your domain user id is johndoe and your email alias is john_doe, you will enter
mycompany\johndoe\john_doe
as your username when you setup Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group. You should also check with your system administrator to verify the settings.
Option 2
Some Exchange servers require NTLM authentication through POP3, Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group supports NTLM authentication automatically through POP. So there is no special setting here.
Option 3
Some Exchange servers allow plain username password authentication through POP. No special setting here.
Option 4
If only Outlook Web Access is enabled, you are out of luck.
31. I have a Palm VII and I downloaded your Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group application and when I click on the icon it does not respond?
This could be a damaged PRC file, try to download the zipped version at /download/gk2005palm.zip and unzip and install. Other behaviors of a damaged PRC file include Out of Memory message, trying to beam information, or lockups.
32. Can I access my company's Lotus Notes Email via Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group?
Almost all Lotus notes servers support POP out of box, and IMAP can be
enabled as well. You should ask your system administrator if they support POP or IMAP protocol (IMAP is better than POP). If they
support either one of them, then you can use Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group to access your Email on Lotus notes. You need the following information,
Your Email address, for example, johndoe@yourdomain.com
Server name of the POP server, for example, pop3.yourdomain.com
Your username, for example, johndoe
Your password, for example, mypassword
33. The Reply option doesn't allow a reply message to be typed. Grafiti and keyboard functions are totally inactive. It will only display the orig. to which I would like to reply. What's going on?
Congratulations, you have found a bug in Palm's firmware! The maxChars variable in the firmware was set to 2048 (2k) for text boxes (message body), and thus it causes something similar to a "GPF" in windows on the Palm and locks the message body field. I have added a workaround in the newest version of Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group and this should not happen again.
34. Common ISP POP Servers
21stcentury.net mail1.21stcentury.net

netcom.com popd.ix.netcom.com also see MindSpring and Earthlink because they are all the same company now
netexpress.net netexpress.net
NetZero pop.netzero.net Netzero and Juno are merging, so this might change pretty soon
pcc.net Contact Info: mail.pcc.net PCC is now part of att broadband
prodigy.net pop.prodigy.net
SurfBest.Net pop.surfbest.net
yahoo.com pop.mail.yahoo.com -- Works only for Yahoo! Delivers members (FREE) See: http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mail/read/read-08.html
New! As of March 27, 2003, the free Yahoo Web mail is also supported by Gopher King!!!
35. With Microsoft Outlook, you can select an option to leave messages on the server when you check your POP account. Is this possible with Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group? I want to check my work email from out of the office, but leave the mail on the office server for filing in my Outlook based desktop.
That's exactly Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group what does, it doesn't download your e-mails, and it always leaves messages on the server (unless you delete them specifically in Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group).
36. Palm VII specific - I am getting iNet 1413 and iNet 1430 errors when I try to connect, what's going on?
iNet xxxx errors are caused by the palm.net service, either a weak signal, or the connection between your palm and the service was somehow interrupted. Palm.net sometimes oversubscribes their user base. In San Jose area, this is always the case between 10AM and 2PM when a lot of users go online and many of them get an inet 1413 or inet 1430. If you are getting these errors consistently, you might want to check out this http://www.palmstation.com/view_article.asp?article=1425
37. How do I remove unnecessary links (like IRC or DNS Lookup) from the frontpage?
Once you have logged in, click on "Edit Profile", and you can turn off the links by changing the setting to "No".
38. After a hotsync through Avantgo, I got a huge channel, how can I reduce the size of the channel?
First, you need to identify the Email account that is causing this.
Second, from a PC, log on and click on "Edit" link under the account you identified in the first step.
Third, scroll down to near bottom of the page, here you can choose to BLOCK one or more folders by checking the boxes, click on "Submit" when you are done. Folders blocked will not show up in future hot sync.
39. How do I access my AOL email?
To use AOL mail support, enter your AOL email address (e.g., john_doe@aol.com) as the Email Address, and your AOL screen name as User Name, leave the Mail Server entry empty, select "AOL" under Protocol and enter your aol password under Password.
NOTE: a. Please note that we do NOT support "save a copy to sent items folder" automatically, so you should always Bcc yourself a copy if you would like to keep a copy for yourself.
b. The AOL mail system is always congested, so if a page fails to load, wait a few moments and refresh usually helps.
c. The AOL mail system does not report number of messages correctly sometimes, and it also has a lag time delivering messages to other domains.
40. I am using your PQA software on my Palm VII/Kyocera Smart Phone 6035, how do I upgrade to the newest version?
First of all, you only need to upgrade your software when there is a major upgrade. A major upgrade is when the second digit of the version number changes. For example, from 1.75 to 1.80 is a major upgrade, while 1.82 to 1.85 is not.
a. Click on the following link or the zip or the sit file,
Download the Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group PQA (Version 1.91).
Zip File for PC Sit File Mac
b. The computer should ask you to save the file, save the file to your local hard drive.
c. Launch "Palm Desktop" on your PC/Mac, Click on the "Install" button on the left side and browse to the "gk2005palm.prc" file you saved in step b. Click OK. The gk2005palm.prc file should show up under the list.
d. Click "Done" and you should get a notice saying "the file will be installed during next sync."
e. Perform a hot sync and the new version will be installed.
If after the upgrade the PRC behaves weird, that's usually a sign of a damaged PRC, you can download the zipped version, unzip and install instead.
41. I cannot reach your web site! I typed www.gopherking.com and the browser says page cannot be displayed or unreachable?
First try connect to a common site like www.google.com and see if your Internet connection is working.
Some DNS servers cannot resolve the www.gopherking.com domain name, you can either use the IP address
http://216.218.193.69
Or there is a quick fix - you add the following two lines to your "hosts" file.
216.218.193.69 www.gopherking.com
Where to find the "hosts" file?
On PCs,
- If you are using Windows 95/98/Me, open the "hosts" file under c:/windows/, if the file does not exist, you can create it with notepad, make sure you save it as "hosts", NOT "hosts.txt".
- If you are using Windows NT/2000, open the "hosts" file under c:/winnt/system32/drivers/etc/, if the file does not exist, you can create it with notepad (you might need administrator priviledge to do this), make sure you save it as "hosts", NOT "hosts.txt".
- If you are using Linux, open the "hosts" file under /etc, a default file should always be there, you just need to add the above two lines to it.
On Macs,
The "Hosts" file (note the uppder case H) should be under your "Preferences" folder, if it does not exist, you can create it with a text editor, make sure you save it as "Hosts", NOT "Hosts.txt".

43. Quick Login does not work on my Palm/Handspring/Samsung/Kyocera device when I am using the Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group PRC application, why is that?
First, no matter what kind of device you use, make sure you do NOT use the Log Out link when you are inside Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group, Log Out will erase the saved login information and render Quick Login useless. Instead, you should just switch to a different application when you are done.
Second, make sure you are not blocking the Device ID, to check this, click on the Prefs icon in the application launcher, then select Wireless from the upper-right hand corner (if you do not have the Wireless in the list, skip to the next item), make sure "Warn me before sending ID" is unchecked.
Third, if all above fails, your device might contain a non-flash ROM, which does not generate a unique device ID. This is the case for all Handpsring devices, some Sony devices, some Samsung devices, some Kyocera devices, and even some Palm III/V/m100/m125/m500/m505s. There is a workaround for this, which is a program called ChangeName, you can download ChangeName from PalmGear at
http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?prodID=2456
it allows you to fake a unique ID. After downloading, unzip and install the changename.prc file to your Palm. Make sure you use a long number - at least 10 random digits, so that no one else could generate the same ID as yours. Also make sure you write it down somewhere, so that you can use the same ID even after a hard reset or your batteries die.
44. I was using Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group's Web Clipping Application (PQA) with my OmniSky service, it was working fine. However, after I switched to the new Earthlink software, the PQA does not work anymore, when I click on the icon, nothing happens, what should I do?
The new Earthlink wireless service does NOT support Web Clipping Applications (PQA)!!! See the following link for details (linked to Earthlink support database),
http://omniskyelnk.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/omniskyelnk.cfg/php/enduser/elnkstd_adp.php?p_sid=L6Rw_q9g&p_lva=&p_refno=020227-000001&&p_sp=&p_li=
You should delete the Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group PQA file from the applications launcher, see FAQ 28 for removal instructions.
The Blazer browser bundled with the Earthlink software is perfect to be used to access Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group service, here is how.
a. Make sure your wireless connection is working.
b. Launch the Blazer browser, then browse to http://www.gopherking.com/
c. Bookmark this page so that you can quickly jump to this site.

e. Done. Now you have full access to Email Consolidator Service by IBE Group.
Note: For those of you that could not get Save Username and Password in the old PQA, this should definitely work with the Blazer Browser.
